Please Stay Tuned...

I want to write often but life just gets in the way and the days slip by and no blogs written.  Please keep checking and looking for new posts.  I haven't even finished blogging about winter and yesterday was Easter!  So faithful blog readers - don't give up.  I am still here in Yak Land and haven't forgotten about you.

Where do the days go?

The last eleven blogs all hail from my very short time in Chicago.  It was a whirlwind but a gift to catch three concerts, see people, attend services, and reminisce.   Now it's on to Minneapolis.

My oldest niece Claudia

Family_dec_2007_008 This is dear Claudia; 35 years old.

On December 8, 2007 -- I found out Claudia has 2 malignant brain tumors.   She just finished 6 weeks of radiation at the end of January.  Please remember her and her 2 children.  Ask that her heart would be soft toward the everlasting father.

My Nephew Matt

Family_dec_2007_007 Matt is soon to be 27 years old AND soon to be a Certified Public Accountant.  Here we are at Caribou Coffee in Naperville, Illinois.

A wonderful place to be at Christmas

College_church_004 Coming from where I live across the seas - the sight of blue skies in winter is almost startling.   Where I live there is a coal haze that is constant for the winter months and we all wait for spring when the heat is turned off and the skies get blue again.   So here I was in Wheaton, Illinois enjoying the blue skies and wonderful music at this special place.

"Chicago is my kind of town..."

Michigan_ave_dec_2007_015_2

Another favorite thing I love to do in America is walk down Michigan Avenue in downtown Chicago.  My 10 years spent in this city is still near and dear to my heart. The architecture, the lights, the shops, and the energy of the city are electrifying to me.  I am truly a city girl at heart.  Walking Michigan Avenue at Christmas can't be beat!  Enjoy more photos of Michigan Avenue here.

I'm Back...

I am back at my blog after crossing the world and changing countries.   Let me get caught up on the American journeys and update you on where I've been since you last saw me.  Moving from state to state and country to country leaves me with a full mind and no time to clear it until I settle a bit.  The lack of internet access in varying locations also keeps me from my blog.  So let me get back to Christmas concerts and Christmas happenings and the roads journeyed.

Suzanne's West Chicago Dinner Party

College_church_366 One of my favorite things to do in America is sit around a table with good friends sharing a meal and talking the night away. This doesn't happen much in China and I miss it. Plus to be with people that have shared a long history with you is a cherished pleasure.

It was an extravagant dinner with pork chops on the grill, sweet potatoes, asparagus, a wonderful salad and bread and then topped off with creme brulee garnished with raspberries. Ah...

Check out the fun by clicking here for more pics.  Remember to always click on the pictures to make them bigger.

Suzette's Creperie

Post-Concert fun with my friend Suzanne.  After enjoying a wonderfully inspiring chamber orchestra we braved the cold and came to this wonderful bistro in downtown Wheaton,Illinois. We stayed until closing enjoying our 33 years of friendship.

I met Suzanne my first year in college. I eventually learned to drive stick shift on her Volkswagen Bug.  Suzanne and I survived being roommates in college; 5 months backpacking through Europe in 1979 and being roommates in Evanston, Illinois.  It was Suzanne who took me to a party where I learned about teaching in China. Then in 1994 Suzanne visited me in Siping, Jilin Province in the People's Republic of China. If you want to hear stories about my past, ask Suzanne...on second thought I'm glad I've left her last name out of this blog.  Ah the history...
